Rabbit Rescue North West

Rabbit Rescue NW was founded when it was realised there was an urgent need for a rabbit rescue in the north west. Bunnies are the third most popular pet in Britain but are also a very neglected and often misunderstood pet. They are a highly intelligent and sociable animal, who need daily exercise and mental stimulation. Our aim is to help bunnies in need to find loving forever homes. All our rabbits are fully vaccinated and neutered before leaving for their forever homes.

🐰 Rabbit Awareness Week: Veggies Done Right!

🌿 Did you know that vegetables are an important part of a healthy adult rabbit's diet... but they're only one piece of the puzzle?

🥬 Introduce new vegetables gradually to avoid upsetting your rabbit's tummy.

🥕 Root vegetables like carrots should be fed as an occasional treat because they're naturally high in sugar.

🌾 Remember: the most important food for rabbits is unlimited good-quality hay, which keeps their digestive system healthy and helps wear down their continuously growing teeth.

Every rabbit is unique, so watch what they enjoy and what suits their digestion best.

🥬 Here are some gorgeous buns enjoying their veggies!
📸 We'd love to see yours too... share your favourite photos of your rabbits enjoying their leafy greens in the comments!

🤩 Fabulous forage!

🐰 As part of Rabbit Awareness Week 2026, we promised we'd share some cute pictures and we think you'll agree these tick that box!

🍽 Here are some past & present RRNW buns tucking into forage.

🌼 Generally made up of leaves, flowers, and herbs, forage has plenty of fibre to aid digestion, helps with wearing down teeth, and can offer mental stimulation - especially if it's hidden in that all-important hay!

🌡Excellent advice as always from The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund on keeping buns cool in this extreme heat:
Rabbit Rescue North West
With temperatures rising across the UK this week, now is the time to make sure your rabbits are prepared for the heat.

Unlike us, rabbits can't sweat to cool themselves down, making them especially vulnerable during warm weather.

When temperatures rise:
☀️ Provide plenty of fresh water
☀️ Ensure access to shade at all times
☀️ Offer cool surfaces such as ceramic tiles or wrapped frozen water bottles
☀️ Keep indoor spaces well ventilated
☀️ Check your rabbits regularly for signs of heatstroke

Signs of heatstroke can include panting, lethargy, drooling, weakness, or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, contact your vet immediately.
