Guts and gut stasis
Rabbits are not the easy pet that many people believe, and rabbits are a long time commitment. Did you know rabbits can live up to 15 years old, with some living even longer?
Rabbits have extremely sensitive stomachs and guts, and can be easily poisoned by accident, by various foods and plants. If their gut health is not in peak condition, they can deteriorate very quickly. Rabbits can suffer from gut stasis which is a serious condition in rabbits and requires veterinary treatment immediately. As rabbits are a prey animal they are extremely good at hiding pain and discomfort, so noticing subtle changes in their behaviour or eating habits is a key thing to monitor and look out for.
Teeth
Rabbits require a constant supply of a good quality hay. Did you know a rabbits diet should consist of 85% hay or grass, 10% leafy green veg and 5% extruded pellets or nuggets? We can provide you with recommendations of good nuggets to feed your rabbits.
